Lukashenko warns against reduction in employment

MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – We cannot allow reduction in the rate of employment. Creating new jobs, especially high-performance jobs, remains a priority, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he delivered the State of the Nation Address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly, BelTA has learned.

The head of state drew special attention to the issue of employment and job opportunities for citizens. “Reduction in the level of employment or in the number of working places is inadmissible under any pretext. All those who create jobs will get full support at any level,” the president said.

Creating high-performance jobs remains a priority goal, and the whole vertical of power is responsible for achieving it, the president added.

According to the head of state, labor mobility within the country can be one of the solutions to the problem. “We need system-based proposals on this matter,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. He also urged people to be proactive and look for good opportunities on labor market.

The head of state drew attention to the employment opportunities of people with disabilities who wish to work in spite of the difficulties with health. “We are facing two main tasks on this front, namely to create a system of incentives for an employer to employ such people and help such individuals find a job. I would call another one: desire of all of us to support such people. I believe that if local authorities had the problems of disabled people (there are not many of them in the country) on their radar and rooted for them as for their own children, they would all be employed and led normal lives,” the president said.
