Lukashenko wants potential presidential candidate to answer some questions

MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – One of the potential candidates in the ongoing presidential election campaign should be asked a number of questions. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement as he appointed new members of the government on 4 June, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “Ask him what kind of company PrivatLizing is. Ask him where he keeps the money that he earned in Belarus using fraudulent methods. ”

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “I want him to explain what kind of investments in existing state-run enterprises he talks about (let's say, MTZ, I visited it some time ago) that will keep 1,800 employees out of 18,000. He says the rest will get 500-600 either in rubles or U.S. dollars, they will have to be retrained [according to the proposals made by the potential candidate]. I wonder whether the man wants to be elected president after all. How can he state before an election that people will be sacked? Because the investor will not keep more than that. I have another question: what will the enterprise make then? Nuts and bolts? It will have no competence. No design innovations and the rest,” Aleksandr Lukashenko is convinced.

“I don't criticize them [potential presidential candidates] yet. I only start wondering when the press secretary presents me a review of all their statements. I think then: it was so simple, you should have kept your mouth shut, you should present this issue in a way not to lose votes,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added.
