Lukashenko vows another visit to Baranovichi in second half of 2019

BARANOVICHI, 22 March (BelTA) – I plan to pay another visit to Baranovichi in the second half of the year, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with the authorities of the city of Baranovichi and Baranovichi District on 22 March, BelTA has learned.

“I will ask my administration to plan another visit to Baranovichi at the start of H2 2019 so that we can see how the half year will pass and hear out the reports of the local administration. At present, you need to decide both in the government and the oblast on how you are going to check business development plans of all the economic entities, of every private and public company,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The president stressed that all enterprises should be audited, checked for their viability. “I am ready to work with any governor, any manager, but we need results,” the head of state said.

The president said that the industry of Baranovichi District is several times larger than that of Orsha. “We will be regularly meeting with managers. I asked to invite all senior officials to the meeting so that everyone would have a clear idea of my demands and what I want to see in Baranovichi District. Agricultural, construction, industrial, transport, and other enterprises should be in the focus. We need a development plan for each enterprise. The plan needs to be based on the modernization and improvement of all the processes,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The head of state added that loss-making enterprises, even the smallest ones, need to be supported. “If they are in the red, can you imagine what salaries their workers get and what profits do such companies have? In Baranovichi, 30% of enterprises are unprofitable. This is not good,” he said.
