Lukashenko urges to preserve information sovereignty

MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – It is important to preserve information sovereignty, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in his report at the 6th Belarusian People's Congress on 11 February, BelTA informs.

“2021-2025 will be a period of information choice. I understand that it sounds crazy and unpleasant but the coming years will show if we become the slaves of others and their strange ideas or manage to preserve the information sovereignty,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

In this regard, he encouraged leading public organizations, especially those working in journalism and the humanitarian field, to strengthen cooperation with government bodies for the protection of the interests of the society in the Internet.

“In the information space we are like at war,” the Belarusian leader stressed.

In his opinion, technologies of aggressive and intricate pressure, influence on people's minds are used against a human being. “Many people are really vulnerable today because of their naivety and openness. But we will fight for our people, of course, we will,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
