Lukashenko urges return to construction of concrete highways

MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) - Belarus should return to large-scale construction of concrete highways, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he delivered his annual Address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly on 31 March, BelTA has learned.

“We need to return to large-scale construction of concrete highways. This issue will be under stringent control. I have warned individual members of the government about that. After all, I have showed you how it should be done. We have bought the latest equipment before the sanctions were imposed. Concrete roads are salvation in our weather conditions. Concrete roads mean durability. This is a task for the government and local authorities,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

He stressed that it was necessary to keep pace in engineering and transport infrastructure development. “Road construction, housing, improvement of settlements are the key to comfortable living in the regions,” the head of state said.
