MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – Belarusians should finally get a sense of national unity, President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during his Annual State of the Nation Address on 19 April, BelTA has learned.
“Our sacred duty is to maintain sovereignty, peace and tranquility on our land. In order to accomplish this historical mission, we should finally acknowledge our national unity,” the head of state said.
He emphasized that together Belarusian people are shaping the history of modern-day Belarus. As the country marks the 25th anniversary of its Constitution, people can say with certainty that Belarus is an established independent state.
“Having different religions we are united by faith; speaking two official languages we are one nation; relying on the best things of the past we are building our future. We are the people of sovereign Belarus, a country that is strong, prosperous and peace-loving, a country that is open to the entire world,” the Belarusian leader said.
