Lukashenko unveils his schedule

MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – Answering questions of students of the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the Belarus president Aleksandr Lukashenko unveiled details of his schedule, BelTA has learned.

The head of state was asked how he copes with such a great number of tasks and whether he has days off. “Actually, I can find some time for a barbecue in a forest or other things. However, this should be planned in advance. Do not think that the president works around the clock studying papers, and then he receives the rector of the academy and the Belarus president administration chief, and then he goes on to announce new appointments, and so on. My life (just like the lives of other presidents) is packed with events. You wake up and keep running. What does it feel like to be on the run for 25 years? I got used to it. This hamster wheel keeps spinning and there is no escaping it. If you stop, it will keep moving and throw you back. This is a mode of life, I am used to it,” the president said.

The position of the president requires constant involvement in state affairs. “I am an absolutely busy person. This is a fact. Indeed, my life is shaped by my schedule. One of the reasons why I cannot be absent is because in line with the constitution we do not have a vice-president who can assume my duties. Even if I take 3-4 days or a week off, this is not a holiday, this is just the time away from the public eye,” he said.
