Lukashenko to visit Russia for informal CIS summit, tour of cosmonaut training center

MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko will go to the Russian Federation on a working visit, BelTA has learned.

Upon the Russian president's invitation Aleksandr Lukashenko will visit the Gagarin Research & Test Cosmonaut Training Center in Zvezdny Gorodok, Moscow Oblast. Belarusian candidates for a manned space flight are going through the selection process there now.

The president will be made familiar with the operation of the center, with the cosmonaut selection and training process. Future prospects of Belarus-Russia cooperation in space industry will be discussed.

Aleksandr Lukashenko will also take part in an informal meeting of the heads of state of the Commonwealth of Independent States in St Petersburg on 26-27 December. The CIS leaders will sum up results of the year 2022 and will discuss plans concerning future cooperation in areas of the strongest interest for the Commonwealth of Independent States.
