Lukashenko: Time to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict before it reaches a new level

MINSK, 5 May (BelTA) – The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has to end while the opportunity exists and before the conflict has reached a brand new level. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement in an interview with Associated Press, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “It is necessary to end the war today or tomorrow. It can be done today. Because the escalation has not reached a brand new level, because Russia has yet to use more serious weaponry. And Russia has it. I am not talking about nuclear weapons. Russia has a huge arsenal.”

“We cannot allow this conflict to reach a higher level. Because no NATO, no Americans staying thousands of kilometers away will help Ukraine with some old junk or even modern weapons. Not because Ukrainians cannot… They are simply not trained to fight with these weapons,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. He added he knows how many weapons made by the USA and Western countries are getting captured by Russians in the course of the military operation.

“Ukrainians will not succeed and Americans understand it better than anyone else. Russia is doomed to win despite all the hardships and complications. This is why it is necessary to stop and come to terms. It is possible for now while the conflict has yet to reach a brand new stage,” he stressed.
