MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke about his attitude to international ratings as he met with Belarusian students on 29 January, BelTA has learned.
One of the students mentioned that the Belarusian State University had achieved high recognition in the international ratings, and asked the president whether it was worth to pay attention to those ratings and strive to improve positions or it was a pointless race.
“Actually it means nothing, but positive movement in the ratings is always pleasant,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko. The head of state explained his opinion by the bias which is often demonstrated by the authors of certain ratings.
For example, one of the international ratings on security moved Belarus down by almost a hundred positions, significantly worsening its performance, although there were no objective reasons for that, the president is convinced. “The country has not turned upside down, we have enough security here,” he said.
“Is it fair? No. I saw this unpleasant thing and forgot about it. So don't take it too seriously. However, if you find yourself in the first place somewhere, talk about it everywhere, because it is a pleasant thing,” the president advised.
