Lukashenko sends condolences to Georgia president over bus crash in Shatili

MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko sent condolences to Georgia President Salome Zourabichvili in connection with a bus crash in Shatili, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The head of state noted that it was with great sorrow that people in Belarus learned the news about a tragic death of people in a bus crash in Dusheti Municipality.

Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed sincere condolences to the loved ones of the victims and wished speedy recovery to those injured.

The minibus fell off a cliff from about 80-meter height on 23 August near the village of Shatili, Dusheti municipality of Georgia. According to preliminary data, the bus carried tourists from Tbilisi. The village of Shatili located in the historical province of Upper Khevsureti is known for its medieval stone towers. It attracts hundreds of tourists in summer. The road to Shatili is the most dangerous in the country. It rained all day on 23 August, the visibility on the road was poor.
