Lukashenko sends birthday greetings to Metropolitan Filaret

MINSK, 21 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has sent a letter of birthday greetings to Metropolitan Filaret, Patriarchal Exarch Emeritus of All Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“You have dedicated your life to the preservation of Christian traditions, have become a kind and wise teacher for thousands of believers and priests,” the felicitation message reads.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, people in Belarus appreciate Metropolitan Filaret's achievements in the establishment of inter-religious dialogue. “As one of the most authoritative hierarchs in the Orthodox world, you have made a big contribution to the revival of the Belarusian Orthodox Church. You have done a lot for the enhancement of relations between the state and the church. May your wisdom and prayers help people find moral guidance in the aspiration to reach new heights,” the president said.
