Lukashenko: Rural reform will conclude in next five-year period

MINSK, 4 August (BelTA) – Belarus' rural development project will be completed within the next five-year period, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he delivered his annual address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly on 4 August, BelTA has learned.

“Over the next five-year period we will fully complete the rural development project. There should not be unpromising rural communities in our country,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

According to the Belarusian leader, this task is not only for the state. “We should give all Belarusians an opportunity to build a house in the countryside and spend their life there if they want. I sincerely believe that remote places will revive and this initiative will resonate with our people, not only those who used to live in the countryside, but also rural residents who do not have the experience of living in a village,” the head of state said.
