Lukashenko, Putin talk to cosmonauts, congratulate them on high awards

AMUR OBLAST, 12 April (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin talked to cosmonauts during their visit to the Vostochny Cosmodrome on 12 April, BelTA has learned.

The Russian leader awarded Sergey Prokopyev, Aleksandr Skvortsov and Oleg Skripochka with high Russian state awards.

The Russian cosmonauts also received congratulations from Aleksandr Lukashenko, who together with Vladimir Putin came to get familiar with the construction and infrastructure development of the Vostochny Cosmodrome.

The meeting was attended by cosmodrome workers and administration who expressed their interest in further prospects of the project, necessary social infrastructure and a possibility for the Belarusian specialists to work there.

It was noted that Belarus and Russia continue to develop cooperation in the space industry, the foundation of which was laid back in the Soviet era. The meeting took place on Cosmonautics Day.
