Lukashenko: Profitability is what really matters

BARANOVICHI, 22 March (BelTA) – Statistics and production volumes are not of primary importance in any sector. Manufacturing efficiency and profitability are what really matters, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with the authorities of the city of Baranovichi and Baranovichi District on 22 March, BelTA has learned.

The head of state stressed that this is dictated by a current pace of life, rapidly changing conditions on foreign markets. “I do not need statistics. I need money. I need it not for myself, but for you,” he stressed.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, there is no point in reporting on "heroism" during the sowing campaign. “We will do it. It is not a problem. We have gathered here today to talk about prospects,” said the president.

“We cannot rest on our laurels. Every day we need to think what we can do tomorrow,” the Belarusian leader stressed.

The head of state added that the country needs to diversify not only its exports and imports, but also its production.

The Belarusian leader once again warned against corruption and any types of mediation. “Start working together with the State Control Committee and law-enforcement bodies. Tough requirements remain intact here,” said Alexander Lukashenko.

According to the president, similar tasks have been set forth to the Belarus President Administration. He cited examples of some companies purchasing foreign raw material through mediators while similar products are produced in Belarus.
