MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – The production of Belarusian medicines is under special control, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he delivered his annual Address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly on 31 March, BelTA has learned.

“The production of Belarusian medicines is under special control. Their share should increase incrementally, the assortment should be expanded. The same pertains to domestic innovative technology and equipment,” he said.

The head of state recalled the recent visits of the Belarusian delegation to China and Iran, the two countries with well-developed medicine. “We have seen the most advanced and at the same time very cheap medicines. I am waiting for you to sort things out in this field,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

He also addressed the heads of ministries and departments, saying that friendly nations are ready to cooperate in the production of medicines, including on the territory of Belarus. He drew attention to the fact that in these matters officials and executives need to be more proactive and make fast decisions regarding cooperation in production of medicines and supply of medical equipment.

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, the fact that the West is using sanctions to hurt sick people, including the elderly and children, is simply outrageous. “They have hit rock bottom,” he noted. “I will tell you one thing: we will pull through. This is a matter of honor. We will not depend on them in the medical field,” he noted.
