Lukashenko presents state awards to BelTA employees

MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko presented state awards to distinguished Belarusians at the Palace of Independence on 21 December. Among the awardees were employees of the Belarusian Telegraph Agency BelTA, BelTA has learned.

During the ceremony, Alexander Lukashenko offered his special congratulations to BelTA that will mark its 100th anniversary on 23 December. “For a hundred years the agency has been doing an important job – documenting the history of our country. It is another good opportunity to honor our journalists,” the president noted.

The Order of Honor was bestowed upon Senior Editor of BelTA's News Department Alina Shrubok. Deputy Director General – Head of the External Communications Center of BelTA Marta Chvei was honored with the Medal for Labor Merits.

Senior Editor of BelTA's News Department Alina Shrubok thanked the head of state for such a high award. In her words, it is particularly pleasant to receive this award as the news agency celebrates its centennial anniversary. “I have been with BelTA for nearly 40 years already. My colleagues and I have witnessed the establishment and evolution of Belarus. Covering domestic and international events every day, we, journalists and editors, are writing a kind of chronicle of contemporary history. We promise to do our utmost to fulfill our tasks. This high award is another incentive for us to stay ahead of the curve and work even harder,” she said.

Attending the ceremony was also First Deputy Director-First Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Belarus Segodnya publishing house Mikhail Lebedik. He was honored with the title Merited Cultural Worker of the Republic of Belarus.
