MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) - Belarus is always ready to cooperate with countries that observe the principles of mutual respect, sincerity and integrity, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a government meeting on 17 November to discuss foreign policy issues, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus is always ready to cooperate with those who observe the principles of mutual respect (I will say it directly with those who respect us), sincerity and integrity. It is sad that some of our so-called partners suddenly found themselves not ready to work in such conditions,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
According to the president, these are some Western countries with which Belarus has been steadily and persistently building mutually beneficial contacts in recent years, especially its closest neighbors Poland and Lithuania. “Unfortunately, the position they have taken towards Belarus can erase a lot, if not everything that has been achieved,” the head of state said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that sanctions had been again imposed on Belarus. In this regard, he asked about the steps Belarus had taken in response, and also about further plans with respect to Poland and the Baltics. “How do we plan to use the potential of international organizations to protect our interests? After all, these structures are designed to protect peace and security and not to be an arena for confrontation between states,” the president stressed.
