Lukashenko: People should wish and be able to live anywhere in Belarus

BARANOVICHI, 22 March (BelTA) – It is important to improve living standards in the regions and make them the same as in the oblast capitals and the capital city, President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with senior officials of the Baranovichi municipal and district administrations on 22 March, BelTA informs.

“People should wish and be able to live anywhere in Belarus, including in Baranovichi,” the Belarusian leader emphasized. In his words, the number one task is to improve the regional economy, which will help address social issues and minimize the gap in the living standards and the level of social and economic development of various communities.

“As far as economies of the regions are concerned, we will move forward gradually. The focus will be made on 11 Belarusian cities. The pace of their social and economic development should be accelerated within the coming two years. The list features Baranovichi and Baranovichi District,” the head of state noted.

“If you want your children and grandchildren to live here, you need to offer them adequate conditions, and these conditions should not be worse than in the best places of our Belarus. Our primary task is to develop economies of the regions, to create jobs so that people can earn,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
