Lukashenko orders to award Zapad 2021 exercise participants

BARANOVICHI DISTRICT, 13 September (BelTA) – Participants of the joint strategic exercise of the Armed Forces of Belarus and Russia Zapad 2021 will be awarded, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he attended the exercise at the Obuz-Lesnovsky training area on 12 September, BelTA has learned.

“I want to address our governors, local authorities. Find an opportunity to thank all the persons we drafted for the exercise. People deserve both gratitude and, most importantly, financial incentives. I know they did not do it for money, but nevertheless this should be done. The same applies to the representatives from Kazakhstan and Russia, who will continue taking part in the operations at the training grounds,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.

The head of state hailed the participation of territorial troops in the exercise. “You are all real men. Every single person who had to be drafted showed up on time at the recruiting station and trained with honor at the training areas,” the president stressed.

Aleksandr Lukashenko pointed out that the situation in the world is very serious. There will be no war only if the servicemen improve their training and demonstrate their skills to the possible enemy. “We cannot feel complacent in any case,” he said.

The government and the Defense Ministry were also instructed to award their CSTO colleagues who took part in the exercise. “We will defend this land, just like our ancestors did,” stressed Aleksandr Lukashenko.
