MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) – In a recent interview with the Turkish television and radio company TRT Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke about the West's non-recognition of his legitimacy, calling this position a "matter of taste", BelTA has learned.
"I'm not asking anyone [abroad] to recognize my legitimacy. Neither Belarus nor Turkey needs other states to recognize legitimacy. It is enough that my people, who elected me, consider me legitimate president of the Republic of Belarus, according to the Constitution," Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
Everything else, the head of state said, is “a matter of taste”. “They [the West] are welcome to adhere to this position,” he added.
