Lukashenko opines on how China can help build multi-polar world

MINSK, 28 February (BelTA) – China can step in and establish an equilibrium in the current situation, which will lead to a multi-polar world that will draw independent, sovereign countries, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in an interview with Chinese media, BelTA has learned.

The head of state noted that he welcomes the peace initiative of China and its leader and considers it very pragmatic. “World peace is the only way for China and other nations to succeed and remain successful. If there is peace, no one will prevent China from becoming a global power. China has already become a vital part in the global decision-making. China's further development relies on peace. It is such a pragmatic approach,” he said.

Of course, other nations also need peace, so China's initiative is positively assessed by many. “The vision of great China and its leader of world peace is a huge contribution to the peaceful development of the entire planet. This benefits Europe, Ukraine, Belarus, and America. Only peace. War will lead to disaster. We are glad that China, this ancient nation, is finally beginning to play a decisive role in our world. We have great hopes about it and we count on it also because (this is our pragmatism) it is our big friend,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

At the same time, as was mentioned during the interview, the countries of the collective West, in disguise of protecting independence and sovereignty, interfere in internal affairs of individual states, provoking conflicts and destabilizing the situation. Belarus was among the states that experienced such a negative impact.

“Stupid, dead-end policy,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said when he was asked to give his take on actions of Western countries. “We were subjected to such aggression through the so-called color revolution. It manifested itself in the form of a rebellion. China experienced it too. They tried to fan the flames in Hong Kong, in the south of China. They went as far as to meddle in the interests of great China,” the Belarusian head of state said.

“They are now suffering defeat on all fronts,” continued the Belarusian leader. “They were able to defeat only weak countries that barely had armed forces that could resist them. Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Syria, Iraq - these countries were actually destroyed by the Americans. Why did it happen? Because they could not resist, they did not have the necessary resources. These were colonial countries, from where oil was pumped out and exported to the USA. But the world has changed. The situation has changed. Today Libya is practically non-existent, it has only armed units. And even the Americans can't deal with them anymore in Libya. Take Syria: the Americans don't call the shots there,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. The president noted that the Americans want to divert Russia's attention away from Libya using the conflict in Ukraine.

The United States and Western countries often use the fight for human rights as an excuse for gross interference in the affairs of other states. In the case of China, this is the situation with the Uyghurs. “They are stirring up tensions saying that there are no human rights there, that the Americans could come and establish ‘a democracy' for the Uyghurs and help with human rights... It's all nonsense. Only China will be able to give the right to all peoples to live freely on its territory. Only China with its power and vision can ensure the normal existence of these peoples. The Americans just want to get their foot in the door (in this case, to get into China) and ignite a civil war. They need to weaken China. Therefore, they are looking for various ways and opportunities to pressurize and control individual states. And not only states, but entire regions,” Aleksandr Lukashenko explained.

However, the world has changed, and today even the United States will not be able to wage wars on all fronts, the Belarusian leader is convinced. “Therefore, we need to negotiate. Everyone needs to negotiate. Japan, Korea, China, Russia, India, other countries have their own interests. Even developing countries of Africa have their own interests. Large countries should take them into account and drop a neo-colonial policy that the West in Africa is trying to pursue (I have recently visited Africa and am well familiar with these processes),” the head of state stressed.

“The whole world, people expect that China will be able to counterbalance the current situation and this will pave the way for a multi-polar world, for which China and other countries, independent, sovereign nations, are striving,” the president said.
