Lukashenko: Only 10% of available lung ventilators currently in use in Belarus

MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) - Only 10% of available lung ventilators are currently in use in Belarus, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a meeting to discuss the epidemiological situation in the country on 3 May, BelTA has learned.

“I receive the information every day. I got it today. Some 9% of the tested are diagnosed with COVID-19. With regards to pneumonia, which I keep strict control over, only 10% of available machines is currently used. We have a little more than 200 people on lung ventilation today. We have 2,500 lung ventilation machines and 1,500 anesthesia-respiratory machines, which can be used if such need arises,” the head of state noted.

He also stated that only 30% of pneumonia patients were diagnosed with COVID-19. “This is also a very good indicator. This is why I have no problems with the work the Healthful Ministry or hospitals today. We have developed the clear systems how to treat infected people,” the Belarusian leader said.
