MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko told reporters about his coronavirus experience after casting his ballot on 9 August, BelTA has learned.
According to the head of state, the youth, people with no underlying conditions develop only mild symptoms or no symptoms at all. Older people should definitely take precautionary measures. Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that this matter was discussed during the recent phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “I told Putin to take care of himself, because the disease is curable (our doctors have learned to deal with it), but it is extremely unpleasant,” the Belarusian leader said.
According to the president, the investigation into how he contracted the virus is underway. “I powered through it on the move. I thought that I was just tired. It felt very weird. You walk with difficulty but you think that it is due to huge workload. However, when my family suspected something, we went to hospital and found out that I had powered through the virus on the go,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
According to the president, the treatment had to be fast and intensive, because he could not miss the joint session of the chambers of the parliament where he was to deliver his annual address to Belarusian people and the National Assembly.
Based on his own coronavirus experience, the head of state recommended sticking to the healthy lifestyle rules. “Do not stay at home, spend more time outside, keep moving, running, jumping, do sports. This is the most important thing,” the president added.
