Lukashenko on car production launch in Belarus: My dream has come true

BOROISOV DISTRICT, 17 November (BelTA) – I've had a dream to launch the production of cars in the country, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting with the personnel of SZAO BelGee after the official opening of the car factory on 17 November, BelTA has learned.

“Our friends responded to my request and helped to set up this wonderful factory. They have also given a loan. Therefore, first of all I would like to say that my dream to produce a car in Belarus has come true,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The head of state emphasized that it is essential to thank the government of the People's Republic of China, particularly China President Xi Jinping, for it. “Very soon I will have an opportunity to thank him personally for responding to my request and helping us to launch this production,” the president remarked.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, the launch of the car factory is just the beginning. “You understand that it is not enough to make, it is more important to sell. The market is not just saturated, our rivals are doing their best to find even the smallest niche to sell their products in Belarus and abroad. The competition is very strong. And today the government has been instructed to devise measures to help us sell at least 60,000 cars on the domestic and foreign markets. This is a small number, but 60,000 cars are needed for profitable work and decent salaries,” the head of state emphasized.
