MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – The fight against corruption will not be stopped, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Minsk Oblast officials and top executives in Soligorsk. An excerpt of his speech was broadcast by the Belarus 1 TV Channel, BelTA reports.
“If someone is looking forward to kickbacks and bribes, guys, that is not going to happen while I am in power. Do not vote for me then. I just cannot quit the fight against corruption that I started a quarter of a century ago when I was chief of the anti-corruption commission at the parliament. Corruption is completely eroding the society and the economy,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The president noted: the majority of Belarusians have zero tolerance to embezzlement of public funds. “Our people will not tolerate it. I cannot let the oligarchy emerge in the country,” the head of state said.
