Lukashenko offers condolences over passing of NASU President Boris Paton

MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has offered condolences to the family and friends of President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU) Boris Paton, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

According to the head of state, it is with big sorrow that Belarus has learned the news about the passing of Boris Paton, a great son of the Ukrainian nation, a talented scientist, a renowned public activist, the president of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. “His contribution to the world science is huge. Fundamental studies and practical research of this legendary person became the foundation for new scientific disciplines and industrial branches. He was also involved in important achievements of the NASU which he led for almost six decades,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

“The merits of the great academician to the mankind were honored with numerous awards, including the Belarusian Order of Friendship of Peoples and the Order of Francysk Skaryna. The scientist was a good friend of our country and did a lot for the enhancement of the Belarusian-Ukrainian friendship and cooperation,” the message of condolences reads.

According to the head of state, Boris Paton lived a long and eventful life, and his passing is an irretrievable loss.
