Lukashenko: I am absolutely confident we will gather in this harvest

MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – There is no doubt that Belarusian farmers will be able to calmly gather in this year's harvest. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement while talking to reporters after casting his vote during the presidential election on 9 August, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “I am absolutely confident we will gather in this harvest. We have three days to cross a certain threshold – 75%. Once we are past 75%, gathering in the remaining 25% will not be a problem. The fact that there will be a bit of rain in some parts of Belarus today is only fortunate, because there are many crops still growing in the fields, they need water. This is why rain is not a problem. People will be able to rest, clean their harvesters and will resume cereals harvesting tomorrow. This is why I am in a good mood.”

In his words, the Lord has had mercy on Belarus twice this year. First, the Lord helped Belarus fight the pandemic. Now divine assistance is helping Belarusians gather in the harvest. “We didn't stop – peasants were sowing the crops at a difficult time and the Lord has given us a good harvest,” the head of state stated.

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko went on a working trip to Minsk District on 8 August. The president was made familiar with winter wheat harvesting progress in the agricultural enterprise OAO Gastellovskoye. The head of state was informed about progress of the harvesting campaign in the country and the region. Aleksandr Lukashenko encouraged agrarians to gather in 10.5 million tonnes of grain including corn every year. “It is what I always want you to achieve. If we reach 10.5 million tonnes (more than one tonne per person), we won't ever need more than that in the future. It is enough for the country at present,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “But we cannot afford going below this figure in any weather conditions.”
