Lukashenko happy with performance of his youngest son at biathlon competitions

MINSK District, 5 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko attended the Snow Sniper junior biathlon finals and commented on the performance of his youngest son Nikolai in the competitions on 4 March, BelTA has learned.

The head of state noted that Nikolai got a bit sick but still decided to participate in the competitions. “His result today is 2.5-3 minutes worse than during the previous stage. But it is OK. We were thinking of withdrawing, but he said he would take part in the event because he promised to the team. Well done, I would say!” Alexander Lukashenko said.

When asked how his son Nikolai manages to make time for ice hockey, music and foreign languages, Alexander Lukashenko said that children can learn anything if there is a wish. “It is important to make the most of this golden time when they are still children,” he stressed.

The president added that his son is not planning to take up biathlon or ice hockey professionally. “I do not persuade him. He is still quite young. He did very well in swimming but he rejected this sport saying that it was boring. He is also good at skiing because he is tall. He does not want this sport either, as it is also boring for him. He likes ice hockey most of all. I do not know what sport he will do. I just teach him the things I can do,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
