Lukashenko, Gutseriyev discuss Slavkali project in Belarus

MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko had a working meeting with Russian businessman, Chairman of the Board of Slavkali Mikhail Gutseriyev on 4 December, BelTA has learned.

The head of state asked about the progress in the implementation of the Slavkali project to build a new potash mining and processing factory in Belarus. The president pointed out the importance of engaging Belarusian specialists in the project and training qualified personnel in spite of the participation of foreign contractors. “It is good that they brought technologies. All that will stay in Belarus. We need good specialists and technologies in Belarus,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

BelTA reported earlier that in September 2015 Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and businessman Mikhail Gutseriyev officially launched the construction of the Nezhinsky potash mining and processing factory in Lyuban District. This will be the second plant in Belarus producing potash fertilizers with the capacity of up to 2 million tonnes of potassium chloride per year. The investment project envisages the construction of a mining complex, a processing factory, a gas turbine power station, railways, motorways, housing and other infrastructure. The construction was started in 2016. The project is implemented by Slavkali.
