MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has expanded the authority of his aides – inspectors for the oblasts and the city of Minsk. Aleksandr Lukashenko signed relevant decree No.503 on 29 December, BelTA has learned.
Among other things the new decree has given presidential aides the authority to involve government agencies and organizations, including security system ones, in the fulfillment of instructions of the head of state. The presidential aides can now freely enter territories and premises of government bodies and organizations. If mismanagement, violations of legislation, engineering and manufacturing standards, performance discipline, and work discipline are detected, the presidential aides will be able to contact government agencies and organizations in order to hold those responsible accountable.
Apart from that, the presidential aides are tasked with detecting sources and factors that pose a threat to national security. The aides will have to control, analyze, and forecast public political processes and social economic ones. They will have to submit proposals on ensuring domestic political stability in the region, including proposals on reinforcing law and order.
In the course of appointing new inspectors for Brest Oblast, Grodno Oblast, and the city of Minsk in late October Aleksandr Lukashenko said he intended to expand the authority of his aides. He also mentioned it was necessary to work out a system of interaction between the aides and the head of state. “Once a month, once every two months, once a quarter of the year… They should suggest that. We don't want get-togethers and we don't want presidential aides separated from the president,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
