Lukashenko gives more powers to Business Promotion Council

MINSK, 14 May (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 173 “On improving the operation of the Business Promotion Council” on 11 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The document is designed to raise the efficiency of the council and to involve the business community in the implementation of the state economic policy. To this end, the council has been authorized to coordinate the activities of regional (district) business promotion councils. This will enable it to accumulate information about the business environment in the regions and to immediately respond to any arising issues together with local authorities.

The Business Promotion Council will be able to submit its views on improvement of laws and regulations and their implementation practices to government agencies and state-run organizations. Such a constructive dialogue between the government and the business community is expected to help resolve current issues more efficiently. Apart from that, the decree refreshed the composition of the Business Promotion Council. It now features business executives and owners from all over the country.

At the same time, representatives of other business unions (associations) will get a status of official partners, which will enable them to take part in the work of the council and perform other functions.
