Lukashenko gives interview to Natsionalnaya Oborona Magazine

MINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave an interview to editor-in-chief of the Russian magazine Natsionalnaya Oborona Igor Korotchenko on 9 November, BelTA informs.

The conversation lasted for two and a half hours. The interview focused on the results of the recent session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State, the essence and priorities of the development of Belarus-Russia integration. Another topical issue is the migration crisis. Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke about who is to blame for the current situation. The president and the interviewer also discussed the overall situation in the region and in the world – the tension on the western borders, the situation in Ukraine, the increasing geological confrontation.

The head of state was also asked about the domestic agenda in Belarus – the analysis of the events of 2020, the work on the amendments to the Constitution and the preparations for the upcoming referendum, the epidemiological situation and the medical treatment of people. Taking into account the specialization of the magazine, the conversation also focused on the development of the Belarusian military-industrial complex, the cooperation with Russia in this field.

Aleksandr Lukashenko answered a number of personal questions. For example, he spoke about his hobbies and commitment to a healthy lifestyle.

This year Igor Korotchenko took part in the Big Conversation with the President - the meeting of the Belarusian head of state with the representatives of the media community. He asked for an interview with Aleksandr Lukashenko at that meeting. The Belarusian leader agreed and kept his promise. As an expert, Igor Korotchenko also commented on topical issues, including those on the Belarusian agenda, in mass media.

The magazine Natsionalnaya Oborona has been available online and in print since 2006 (the monthly circulation is 22,500 copies). This mass media outlet covers a wide range of topics concerning Russia's national security. Its target audience is the military and political elite of Russia, workers of law enforcement and defense ministries and agencies, directors of enterprises and organizations of the Russian military-industrial complex, specialists in banking, finance and insurance working with military organizations.

The magazine has been available in English since 2008 as an official publication of the Russian exposition at foreign military expos.
