Lukashenko gives housing certificate to military man's family

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko was given a certificate to buy a one-bedroom apartment as he visited the MAPID construction company, however the president gave the certificate to a family of a military man, BelTA has learned.

“What will I do with it? In line with the law, the president is not allowed to receive gifts,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

He noted that this gift belongs to the state. “Thank you very much. This is for the military,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said and passed the certificate to Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova.

The president also left his signature on a hard hat.

During the visit to the company, the head of state discussed housing construction in Belarus and the work of MAPID. Aleksandr Lukashenko also studied samples of detached houses made by the company and assessed their comfort and quality.

After that the president studied the technology of producing precast concrete and praised the quality of products. These are not only reinforced concrete structures, but also doors and windows. He reiterated the need to gradually switch from plastic to wood in making windows. This is more eco-friendly and allows a broader use of the country's raw materials.
