MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko expects the ice hockey club Dinamo Minsk to show genuine performance next season. Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statement as he met with HC Dinamo Minsk players after the Belarus president's ice hockey team had had a joint training session with them, BelTA has learned.
The teams had a very dynamic training session and demonstrated high-performance ice hockey.
Aleksandr Lukashenko was gifted an ice hockey jersey with autographs of the team. “So, I still have a chance to play with Dinamo Minsk,” he noted jokingly. The president talked to players on the team and to HC Dinamo Minsk's head coach Craig Woodcroft. The Telegram channel Pul Pervogo published a video of it.
The head coach said: “Dear president! Thank you very much from everyone, who is here. We are deeply grateful for everything you do for hockey.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “If leaders in America and Canada did as much for hockey as we do, they would be in outer space already. But you are still stuck in the playoff. We expect genuine performance out of you next year!”
BelTA reported earlier that on 11 March HC Dinamo Minsk suffered a defeat in the first round of the Gagarin Cup playoffs and stopped playing in this season of the Kontinental Hockey League.
