MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) - Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated Ursula von der Leyen on her election to a top position as President of the European Commission, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
“I am convinced that your extensive experience and personal skills will help strengthen the historical role of the European Union in the consolidation of countries using common values, like peace, independence and sustainable development. I hope that the political dialogue will gain momentum and the cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the European Union in trade, investment and humanitarian field will be given new substance,” the message reads.
The head of state expressed hope to embark on a joint discussion of the international agenda with a view to building a safe and confident future for Europe.
