Lukashenko comments on government support to enterprises during pandemic

MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko opined on the government support to enterprises during the pandemic as he hosted a conference with top officials of the Council of Ministers on 11 November, BelTA has learned

Provision of government support to OAO Amkodor was on the agenda of the meeting.

“In terms of support to certain enterprises, I have suspicions that the government has already started to filter as to who gets help and who does not. Enterprises need to be proactive and make money themsleves. But those who need help, who got into a difficult situation even through no fault of their own, will get help. But this does not mean that everyone will be able to get assistance from the budget," Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

Following the meeting, Industry Minister Piotr Parkhomchik told reporters that OAO Amkodor may expect additional support from the government, although it is mainly a private company with a small share of the state. "The president has given very clear instructions to provide support within the framework of those documents that have been adopted."Belaursbank has extended a loan of Br100 million. Amkodor also supplies its vehicles, in very large quantities, within the framework of the forestry program," the minister said.

He noted that OAO Amkodor is implementing a large investment program, has attracted significant resources. The company has faced western sanctions, and thus has intensified work on import substitution and has already designed the prototypes of a number of units and joints.

“There is confidence that OAO Amkodor will cope with the current difficulties. It has been posting good growth, profit. Despite the recent difficulties, we see positive dynamics in the work of this company," Piotr Parkhomchik emphasized.
