GRODNO, 24 August (BelTA) – There is a lot of fake news about the current situation in Belarus, especially the actions of the riot police, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he attended a rally in Grodno on 22 August, BelTA has learned.
“There was a piece of news about a girl from Grodno that had allegedly been beaten by the riot police. The whole country sympathized with her for five days decrying the actions of the riot police,” the head of state said. “And in reality? We are grateful to the father for finding the courage to say honestly: nothing of the sort, the riot police did not hurt her, it was a car accident. We thank him for this! He is a brave person! And such fake news is flooding our country,” he added.
