Lukashenko cautions Lithuania about dire consequences of ongoing conflict

MINSK, 28 January (BelTA) – Lithuania is trying to wage a war on Belarus, primarily an economic one. There is no sense in it. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement in his address to the nation and the parliament on 28 January, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian leader stressed: “Why are you fighting Belarus? Why don't you let our goods reach the port? You are simply bringing about a war: an economic one today, a hot one tomorrow.”

The head of state pointed out that even their own nation will not support the Lithuanian leadership in this war while the Lithuanian economy will be destroyed. “You will ruin the port facilities, there will be no one to load the cargoes. Once we come to terms with Russia, there will be no one to load the cargoes over there. We will have all of our cargoes loaded in Russian ports. Transport will stop since we will not allow your exports to go through Belarus. You will forget this road. And once we make arrangements with Russia, you will be banned from using other ways, too,” the president warned about possible consequences.

“Since craziness is still under control, let's resume normal cooperation. Let's not look at each other as enemies. There will be no winners in this war,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. He added that despite all the actions of Lithuania Belarus is ready to turn the page and continue advancing cooperation.
