Lukashenko: Belarus will never threaten anyone

MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) – Belarus has never threatened anyone and will never do, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko told reporters at a polling station on 17 November, BelTA has learned.

“Nato and the West view it [the Belarusian Army] as the most mobile, disciplined and efficient in the CIS. Russia has a bigger army and it is a nuclear-weapon state. However as far as combat effectiveness is concerned, they rank us first,” the head of state said.

“However, we have never threatened anyone and will not do it in the future. There will be no threats coming from our territory. We will only retaliate, and our response will be proportionate and symmetrical, however if they go too far, the response will be asymmetrical,” the president said.
