Lukashenko: Belarus should boost food export

MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko set a task to increase the export of foodstuffs as he hosted a meeting on 11 August to discuss the development of the country's food industry, BelTA has learned.

“For more than half a year our companies have been operating amidst difficult conditions brought about by the coronavirus pandemic. However, despite all this, we managed to retain jobs and our export potential. The coronavirus was no threat to the processing industry. You had enough raw materials. Farmers work like never before, we have meat, milk, sugar and so on. The same is about consumption. All countries have gone on a lockdown, while we keep working. Go ahead and sell your products. Markets are open, you just need to work harder,” the head of state said.

The president was informed that there are no problems with product sales. “We need to gain momentum. One of the great ways to do it is to increase export,” the head of state emphasized.
