MINSK, 7 January (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko presented awards to the best players of the Golden Puck national junior ice hockey tournament after the final match of the 15th edition of the Christmas amateur ice hockey tournament for the prize of the Belarusian president on 7 January, BelTA has learned.
The awards ceremony took place on the big ice rink of the Chizhovka Arena sports complex. It was attended by many famous players and a great number of spectators. Nikita Volsky (Griffons, Minsk) was named the best goalkeeper. Yan Filipovich (Griffons, Minsk) was recognized the best defenseman, while Ivan Kuzmitsky (Atlant, Kobrin) was named the best forward.
Nikolai Lukashenko was named top scorer of the Golden Puck tournament. He was credited with 10 goals and 9 assists (a total of 19 points).
Griffons who represent Central District of Minsk hammered Sokol from Gorki, Mogilev Oblast, 10:3 in the final match of the Golden Puck tournament in Division A in the 14-16 age group on 7 January. Atlant won their bronze medal match upsetting Prinemanskiye Yastreby from Grodno Oblast.
Alexander Lukashenko cordially congratulated the winning team as he presented awards.
