Lukashenko arrives in Russia on working visit

MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has arrived in Russia on a working visit, BelTA has learned.

In Moscow, the leaders of the two states will continue the discussion of the most important issues of the Belarusian-Russian cooperation which were talked over in detail in the Kremlin on 25 December.

On 25 December, the heads of state held a constructive conversation during which they discussed the whole range of issues on the bilateral agenda. Assessing trade and economic cooperation as a whole, the parties named an increase in the mutual trade as a clearly positive moment. Other topical issues included gas pricing, the operation of the Belarusian oil refining sector in the context of Russia's tax maneuver, and food supplies to the Russian market. As a result, positions have been reconciled on all the issues.

The presidents analyzed the agreements within the framework of the Union State and their implementation. The two heads of state emphasized the need to intensify some of the processes, and first of all the need for a single industrial policy.

The heads of state also agreed to hold another meeting before the New Year to make decisions on the most important issues. This pertains, first of all, to wish of the Russian president to consider all the matters in detail in order to find proper solutions.
