Lukashenko approves appointment of executive officials in Mogilev Oblast

MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko approved the appointment of heads of three district executive committees in Mogilev Oblast on 19 August, BelTA has learned.

Vasily Zakharenko was appointed Chairman of the Belynichi District Executive Committee. At present he leads the Klimovichi District Council of Deputies. First Deputy Director General of Agromashservice Holding Company Nikolai Stepanov will take over the office of Chairman of the Dribin District Executive Committee. Executive Director for Manufacturing and Agriculture at the Mogilev Grass Seeds company Aleksandr Yefimchikov will be in charge of the Chaussy District Executive Committee.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that the economies of these districts are dominated by agriculture, therefore this sector should be in focus of the newly appointed officials. Besides, they will have to deal with general economic matters, study area-specific features of the local manufacturing sector and even deal with ideology. In other words, they will have to handle a great number of tasks. “It will not be easy, because you are in the front line, face to face with people. You have to prove them your worth every single day. We have learned the hard way how to resolve thorny issues. It is great when you don't just know what to do, but you also know how to do it,” the president said.

The head of state noted that there are several loss-making companies in these districts and these companies should get priority attention. They should adopt the practices of more successful agricultural enterprises, Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized. “Loss-making companies are your area of responsibility. You should invest all your energy and vigor in dealing with this matter in order to reverse the situation at these companies,” the president noted.

Another important area of work is supporting companies that have been of great importance for these districts since the Soviet times. Machinery production, mobile construction enterprises should get a new lease on life. According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, these companies have potential, because agricultural enterprises need spare parts and fuel, manufacturers need new production facilities and people need housing.

Local residents should be provided with all kinds of engineering services, like sharpening axes and scythes, repairing vehicles, electric welding and gas welding – all this was done by district agricultural services providers. Several years ago this practice was abandoned. It was wrong. It should be revived, Aleksandr Lukashenko said. Local construction companies can compete with much bigger enterprises, the president noted. Therefore, mobile construction enterprises should be revived even in small districts.

“You need to have such companies at hand. Some also have a linen mill, a dairy company, other processing enterprises, maybe a feed mill. Make life in these districts better. There are many things to do there. You are new people to these districts and you need to study these places, identify the issues you need to tackle this year and the issues you will come to grips with in the future,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

Belynichi District was in focus of the president during his working trip to Mogilev Oblast in July 2018. “We have agreed about Belynichi District: everything should be done by 2020. No mammoth aid will be provided,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized back then. The head of state noted that social and economic indicators of the district deteriorated. He harshly criticized the work of the local and regional authorities, as well as government members responsible for this district. At the same time, the President noted that Belynichi District should model itself on the Rodina collective farm which success story is attributed to innovative solutions and effective management.
