Lukashenko announces strong market protection measures

MINSK, 4 August (BelTA) – Fundamental decisions to protect the market will be taken in Belarus in the nearest future, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he delivered his annual address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly on 4 August, BelTA has learned.

The head of state noted that it is necessary to protect one's market. “The coronavirus has laid bare the real value of trading rules and commitments. Everyone showed their utter disregard for them, up to engaging in open confrontations while protecting their manufacturers. They do not let others take part in public sector procurement tendering and government-sponsored construction projects. In other words, by now all countries have taken this process under control. We will also take fundamental decisions very soon,” the president announced.

“However, no protection will help low-quality products. I am addressing all executives and specialists: the quality of our products, their compliance with international standards are a priority,” Aleksandr Lukashenko underlined.
