MINSK, 24 January (BelTA) – The 2030 Agenda goals were set in Belarus long before the agenda's adoption, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in his greeting address to the participants of the first national forum on sustainable development, BelTA has learned.
The president's greetings were read out by First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Maksim Ryzhenkov. “The program of transformations in economy, social field and environment, which was discussed at the UN Summit in 2015, is relevant for the whole world and is highly praised by the international community. We had set the development goals outlined in the 2030 Agenda long before the document was officially adopted. We have achieved high results in this area,” the president said in his greeting speech.
“All the achievements in healthcare, education, food safety, gender equality, respect for the environment, support for low-income households are widely recognized and are an essential part of the global goals which are taken into account when the progress of our state is assessed,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
The head of state expressed confidence that the impressive number of experts taking part in the meeting would help the forum consolidate achievements and maintain sustainable development of Belarus. Alexander Lukashenko wished all the participants fruitful work in the implementation of their important mission.
