International Space Station hailed as example of partner and business relations between countries

MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – The International Space Station (ISS) is an example of partner and business relations between states and peoples, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at a ceremony to open the 31st ASE Planetary Congress on 10 September, BelTA has learned.

“The International Space Station is a notable example of effective international cooperation in space exploration. This orbital laboratory is an example of how we can build partner and business relations between states and peoples today,” said Alexander Lukashenko.

“If you prefer, this is a vivid example from outer space for us on how to live in this rapidly developing world in harmony for the benefit of all peoples. Unfortunately, we often neglect this example,” said the head of state.

The first ISS module was launched 20 years ago. Back then, 15 countries participated in the development and assembly of the station. A hundred countries use it today. Representatives of different nationalities work successfully on it, the president said.

“The PanGeo Alliance of Earth Observation Satellite Operators pursues the same noble goals. The Belarusian satellite Belintersat 1 works in cooperation with the alliance, too,” the Belarusian leader said.
