Fairness described as pillar of Belarus' national policy

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) - Fairness with people should be the pillar of the Belarusian national policy, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting with Minsk authorities on 20 December, BelTA informs.

“I have recently given an example. There was an opinion poll in Russia, and the majority of people requested fairness, not bread and butter. Many years ago I told you that fairness should be the pillar of our national policy,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed. “There will be no state without fairness. Erosion stars from here.”

The president remarked that the capital city is the region with a big percentage of well-educated people who have advanced social, intellectual and cultural needs. He remarked that Minsk residents react vehemently to formalism and bureaucracy, they ask many critical questions. At the same time, Minsk people are open to dialogue.

“Are Minsk authorities prepared for dialogue? Government officials should not be afraid of people, they should meet with people and talk to them, explain and prove certain things to them, even make people change their mind if necessary,” Alexander Lukashenko emphasized. “Why public organizations are not proactive in the resolution of this complicated task? They are nowhere to be seen. You should rely on them more.”

This is the task not only for ideologists because every government representative is an ideologist today, the head of state noted. “Their words and deeds form the image of the state. Do not fence yourselves from people, they will not tolerate injustice and snobbism,” he said.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, young people account for over 25% of the Minsk population, and the formation of the up-to-date agenda for them has its peculiarities. “It is essential to avoid failures in educational and ideological work, do not feed young brains with junk food. They need information on job opportunities, training courses, contests, workshops, free and open lectures. They should be engaged in all walks of life such as sport, labor and recreation,” the president said. “Please remember that the main thing for young people is the opportunity of self-fulfillment, personal and professional growth. The city should have necessary conditions for it.”
