Details of phone call between Lukashenko, Macron revealed

MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – A phone conversation between Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and France President Emmanuel Macron took place in the evening on 26 February, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.

The conversation lasted for about one hour and 20 minutes. All the questions focused on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Belarus' stance and the country's involvement in this conflict were discussed.

A considerable part of the conversation was dedicated to discussing Europe's future and Belarus' part in this world order. Aleksandr Lukashenko and Emmanuel Macron also talked about Belarus-Russia relations.

The matter of weapons was also raised during the phone call, including nuclear weapons and their possible deployment in Belarus. In response to this question Aleksandr Lukashenko noted it was fake news. He remarked if the Belarusian nation is not being strangled, then conventional weapons are out of the question not to mention nuclear weapons.

As part of the discussion about peace talks Aleksandr Lukashenko reaffirmed his stance that Belarus is ready to offer any place at any time for the talks.

During the conversation the president of France stressed his respect for the Belarusian nation.

The heads of state came to an agreement on contacts in the near future, too.
