Crops harvested from Belarus president's experimental fields donated to elderly, kids

MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) – Crops harvested from experimental fields and products made by the farmstead of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko were sent to sponsored organizations on 25 September. Every year the head of state has most of the harvest donated to elderly people and kids, BelTA has learned.

Traditionally one of the first destinations was the residential care home for veterans and people with disabilities in Vaupshasova Street in Minsk. The local cooks have already received some of the harvest. All of it is food personally grown by the head of state. The tasty and wholesome gifts included 4 tonnes of potatoes of elite varieties of Belarusian selection, honey harvested in the agrotown of Aleksandria, all kinds of pickles and jams prepared by cooks of the head of state, Belarusian muskmelons grown from Uzbek seeds, purely Belarusian apples, birch tree juice and apple juice. Some of the food was sampled there and then with tea, good talk, and songs.

The gifts are also symbolical because Belarus will mark International Day of Older Persons next week. The attention people at the residential care home received has worth by itself. But everyone knows you cannot get too many gifts in anticipation of a red-letter day. Every one of the 400 residents received a warm woolen blanket of Belarusian make.

The guests did not forget the local mini farm. The head of state farmstead had donated chickens, rabbits, and goats to it in the past. Ten more chickens of Dutch breeds were donated on 25 September in response to requests of the local residents.
